Eleanor's Tip #1:

First spend fifteen minutes a day seeing, in your mind (visualizing), yourself sitting (or standing) in the job that you want and doing that job well. Build this picture in vivid color in your imagination.
Believe that you have the job. Concentrate on "believing" and "seeing"  yourself in that job in your mind.
In the meantime, comb the want ads and send resumes to any company advertising a job that sounds like it is close to your ideal job. Go on any and all interviews that result and prick up your ears while there. You may pick up a hint or bit of information that can help you.

Eleanor's Tip #2:

Having a one-size-fits-all resume is a job-hunting peril. It's so easy to expand on what you know about yourself and what you have accomplished, making your resume your opus and hoping it will fill the bill for every potential job. But try putting yourself in the prospective  employer's shoes. Imagine yourself as the frazzled and overloaded person looking for an employee. He or she doesn't need to know all about you. This person just needs to be able to grasp, in a few seconds, that you can do the job that needs to be done. Find out what the job is and what it entails, then specify on your resume the skills needed for the job that you possess. Outline your work history and send the resume. IN other words, tailor your  resume for each job for which you apply. Good luck!

Eleanor's Tip #3:

Need to figure out what you don't like about your current job? Set aside one week to study yourself. Stop at intervals during the work day and ask yourself how you feel. Tense? Blood pressure high? What are you doing at that moment? You'll get insight into the offending aspects of your work assignments. Are you tense when you're face to face with your boss or when you're cold calling sales prospects? On the other hand, do you just flow along unruffled when you're teaching or mentoring? Tells you something doesn't it?
